Listen Up ! !
(2004-2006)
was a summer visual art and creative writing program aimed at teenagers living in ‘high-risk’ neighborhoods. Learning components included brainstorming, creative writing, graphic design, letterpress printing, and video production. The project outputs included autobiographical T-shirts and posters, a T-shirt quilt, a video documentation, and a commercially printed project catalogue. Measurable outcomes included a heightened awareness of professions in the creative arts and productive experiences in academic, community, and trade environments. LISTEN-UP ! ! was a partnership between the Goldsmith Press, the Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation and the Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library. LISTEN-UP ! ! was funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
